Isha Koppikar
Ishaa Koppikar is the Khallas girl whose acting skills take a backseat to her item girl repute even as she tries to move beyond it.
Basics on Ishaa
Ishaa was born on 19th September 1976 in Mumbai, India. Though born in the city where it all happens, Koppikar is a Mangalorean. She studied Life Science at the Ramnarain Ruia College.
After working with Gautam Rajadhyaksha, she got a chance to work in several commercials like Camay, Rexona, L’Oreal, Tips & Toes and Coca Cola. She is the face of Police Watches and Jewelry. She lent her presence to music videos like KK’s Patli Kamar and Bandish Projekt’s Bhor.
She participated in the Femina Miss India contest. Though the crown didn’t land on her head, she did win the Miss Talent title. She sat as a judge on the Miss Universe Pageant 2008 held in Vietnam.
Koppikar is also a spokesperson for PETA.
Ishaa Koppikar’s Movies
1998 to 2001 Ishaa Koppikar’s first movie was in Tamil called Kaadhal Kavithai (1998) with Prashanth, followed by Nenjinile (1999) with Vijay.
Her first Hindi movie was Fiza (2000) as Gitanjali. She was also seen in Kannada and Telugu movies in 2000 like Surya Vamsha and Nuvvu Vasthavani. In 2001, she acted in Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, Narassima among others.
2002 to 2005 Koppikar’s item numbers Khallas in Company and Ishq Samundar in Kante kept her in the spotlight in 2002. Her movies in 2003 were Pinjar with Urmila Matondkar; as Anita in Dil Ka Rishtaa and Prajwal Raman’s Darna Mana Hai.
Besides Rudraksh and Krishna Cottage, Koppikar was seen in Girlfriend in 2004 with a controversial story line. Her releases in 2005 included D, Kya Kool Hai Hum and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya.
2006 to 2009 In 2006, Darna Zaroori Hai and 36 China Town did not do as well as Don – The Chase Begins Again. She played Phoolwati opposite Sohail Khan in Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love (2007) and as a traditional wife Ashwini in Ram Gopal Verma’s Darling (2007).
In 2008, she was part of Hello, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s One Night at the Call center as the aspiring model, Esha.
She will be seen in Jahnu Barua’s Har Pall in 2009 and as a crime lord in Ram Gopal Verma’s Shabri.
